What you can expect as a participant using our support service. Find out your responsibilities.

Understand your rights and responsibilities as a participant in our program, as well as our obligations to protect your privacy.

We will ask you to read the Privacy statement and Participant Rights and Responsibility statement before your first session with one of our clinicians. You can talk about any questions you have with them.

Your rights as a participant

All participants have the right to a service that is excellent, responsive and compassionate. It will be delivered by a team of nurses and midwives who are qualified, experienced and respectful, in an environment that is discrete, dignified and safe.

Your responsibilities as a participant

To help us deliver the best quality care, participants are encouraged to:

  • provide us with accurate information about their health and professional circumstances
  • attend scheduled appointments
  • be free from the effects of alcohol and non-prescribed drugs when attending a session
  • notify us as soon as possible if you need to change appointment times
  • find a quiet place for telehealth and phone appointments and be able to talk freely with our team member.

Personal information

How we collect and store your personal information complies with the Australian Privacy Principles. We protect it from breaches of confidentiality. 

Any data collected for funding and/or research will not identify you.

If we contact external agencies, service providers or significant others on your behalf, we do this with your consent and in accordance with our internal policies and guidelines.

Giving consent

If you wish to engage in care and support planning and/or group attendance you must give your written or verbal consent to our clinician.

If you join a support group, we encourage you to work with other group members within the guidelines for group participation.

Individual support plans

Participant care and support planning is based on your individual needs and is outcome-oriented and practical. The process is collaborative. Our team make recommendations for care, but you decide how you engage.

Feedback and complaints

We encourage you to share your feedback via our feedback form or send an email to ceo@nmhp.org.au

Complaints about our service can be made in person or written in a letter or email to admin@nmhp.org.au and addressed to the CEO. We may refer complaints to the Board of Directors to resolve. All are taken seriously.
