Chris Schildt

Chris is a senior mental health nurse and healthcare leader with extensive experience across clinical leadership, mental health services, clinical governance, education and workforce development. He is currently Deputy Director of Nursing for Mental Health Services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, supporting the nursing workforce and community mental health services.

Chris has held senior roles across mental health and wellbeing, including Clinical Manager at IPC Health and Clinical Governance Specialist at Beyond Blue. He has also worked in higher education as a Lecturer at Deakin University, bringing together his clinical experience with a strong focus on education, training and professional development.

A Registered Nurse since 2009, Christopher holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Melbourne and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from RMIT University. He is passionate about mental health, nursing, health literacy, suicide prevention and improving the quality and safety of healthcare.

Outside his professional roles, Chris is a Therapeutic Foster Carer with OzChild and has served as Board Chair of Creating Villages, reflecting his broader commitment to supporting children, families and communities.

With a career spanning clinical practice, leadership, education and governance, Chris brings a practical and compassionate perspective to the realities of mental health nursing and the challenges and opportunities facing today's nursing workforce.
